Joseph Schifano

Joe Schifano is the director of business and fiscal affairs for NPR’s Distribution Division, which manages the Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS). In this position, Joe leads the team responsible for divisional financial reporting, budgeting, billing, collections, contracts, and marketing support. He also represents NPR and NPR Distribution at key industry conferences, such as the National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas.

Joe has served NPR for more than 21 years, beginning his career as chief accountant in NPR’s Finance Division. In 1997, he joined the NPR Distribution and PRSS Team, in which he has served in a leadership capacity ever since. Joe has also held the position of adjunct faculty professor at the Northern Virginia Communicate College for 26 years, teaching such courses as accounting, finance, and statistics.

Joe earned both his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in accounting and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in finance from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Prior to his service with NPR, Joe worked as the controller for a regional retail organization serving Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
